T3 Micro Featherweight Luxe 2i hair dryer review
Drying your hair is one of those chores that’s necessary, but you’d be hard pressed to find people who say they enjoy it. In fact there was a time where women used to use washing and drying their hair, as an implausible excuse to turn down a bad date. Fortunately, the technology in drying your hair has come along way since the Mad Men era.
I recently had a chance to get to know some beauty gadgets from T3 Micro. You’ll want to check out my review of their smart curling iron – the Twirl 360 – that curls your hair with a gyroscopic barrel. This time, I’m looking at one of their newest models of hairdryer the T3 Micro Featherweight Luxe 2i is one of the brands newest offerings.
What’s in the package – T3 Micro Featherweight Luxe 2i
As many hairdryers do these days, the Luxe 2i features tourmaline and ceramic to emit negative ions and infrared heat which T3 says makes drying faster, and hair more healthy looking. The device is also said to “create a high volume of ion-enriched air to quickly dry large sections of hair”.
I love the looks of it right away, possibly even more so than the newly released Dyson supersonic. Read that review here.
I got started with a few hair drying trials and timed tests to see what we were dealing with.
Does Featherweight Luxe 2i dry faster?
My hair is what I’d call medium length. After some tests, I found I was able to get my hair mostly dry overall in about 2 to 3 minutes; that’s the same amount of time it took me to get to the same stage using the Dyson Supersonic. (By this I mean that I would use the dryer to get the hair most of the way dry; then move on to a more concentrated section by section dry and style.) On average, I was able to get my shoulder length hair mostly dry in about 2 1/2 minutes. Further styling and smoothing only took another few minutes.
I have to say I was impressed. I thought this kind of speed was only possible with a device like the Dyson. (My old drugstore Conair dryer takes several minutes longer.) But considering the Dyson dryer costs about $500, and this one rings in at about half that price ($250 US & CDN), I was very very impressed with the results.
Overall I feel like this dryer dries as quickly if not faster than even the Dyson. It has a wide flow of concentrated air that whisks away moisture quickly T3 calls this its “soft air” technology. There are two speeds and three heat settings to give you versatility.
I loved the speed and the overall way the T3 Micro left my hair feeling. I wouldn’t say I got that glassy all-day sleekness that I did after weeks of using the Dyson, but it still did a pretty great job in giving me a smooth blowout.
After numerous uses I can definitely say the hairdryer is quite light weight. It was easy to hold it up while drying my hair, though I didn’t need to hold it up as long as some other dryers simply because it works so quickly.
I found the various heat and speed settings covered off everything I could want from a dryer without leaving me wanting.
Overall review of T3Micro Featherweight Luxe 2i
Over all I have to say I was as happy with this dryer as I was with the much-hyped Dyson supersonic. If you are thinking of investing in a more professional and powerful blow dryer that can shave minutes out of your morning routine, this T3 micro is a fantastic choice, and at half the price, you absolutely can’t go wrong.
From the lengthy cord, to the pretty styling, and excellent hair results, there was absolutely nothing I didn’t like or could complain about with this hair dryer. (And I am usually pretty demanding of my technology, particularly the most expensive stuff.)
Run to your nearest Beauty boutique or to Sephora and pick up this hair dryer today if you are looking for an upgrade. You won’t be sorry.
The dryer costs $250US and remarkably the same in Canada. Get more info here.
